Appropriate Body Services for South Staffs, Walsall and Wolverhampton
All schools that employ an Early Career Teacher (ECT, formally known as NQT) are legally required to offer a statutory induction and be signed to an Appropriate Body who will ensure that schools provide adequate support to teachers at the start of their teaching career.
Manor Teaching School Hub will provide Appropriate Body services to meet the needs of South Staffs, Walsall and Wolverhampton, across all phases and settings.
From September 2024 only Teaching School Hubs will provide AB services for schools in their area.
Appropriate Bodies are responsible for:

The 3 Appropriate Body Routes:
There are three different Appropriate Body routes a school can opt to follow. A school’s pathway must go hand-in-hand with their chosen ECF induction type:
-
Full Induction Programme - The ECF is delivered by a ‘Lead Provider’ (Ambition Institute) and a ‘Delivery Partner’ (Haybridge Teaching School Hub). As the ECF is quality-assured by Ambition Institute and the DfE, schools following this route require no Appropriate Body fidelity checks.
-
Core Induction Programme - The ECF is delivered by the school using quality-assured material from the DfE. Schools following this route must undergo a fidelity check to ensure their ECTs are receiving statutory entitlements and the school are following a programme in line with ECF guidance.
-
School-based Induction Programme - The ECF is designed and delivered by the school. Enhanced fidelity checks must be carried out on the school by a representative from the Appropriate Body in order to ensure the ECF has been designed and delivered effectively to ECTs.
Fidelity Checks:
Where schools choose to follow the Core Induction Programme (CIP), or a School-Based Induction Programme (SBIP), it is the role of the Appropriate Body to conduct fidelity checks in the school to ensure that Early Career Teachers are receiving a programme of support and training based on the Early Career Framework. This is not required for schools who follow the Full Induction Programme (FIP) with a Lead Provider and Teaching School Hub.

Schools choosing to follow the Core Induction Programme, or a School-Based Induction Programme, will require the Appropriate Body to conduct fidelity checks in the school to ensure that Early Career Teachers are receiving a programme of support and training based on the Early Career Framework. This is not required for schools who follow the Full Induction Programme with a Lead Provider and Teaching School Hub.
